Ragged Arts is all about getting lots of artists to showcase their work together in eclectic diversity. Bringing people from many different disciplines and backgrounds together to sell their work, the Ragged Project hopes to launch some innovative ways of connecting talent with the spotlight of culture.
Exhibitions Calendar:
This initiative aims to develop ways to facilitate the public to buy authentic art from new and established artists as well as publicise where and when exhibitions of work are going on. – the Poor Man’s Print – which takes on board and explores the modern art world in context with Walter Benjamin's famous 'The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction'. As a result of this idea, more artists will have the opportunity to reproduce their work affordably while retaining their originals and facilitating the existing markets for art.
Ragged Arts is part of the Ragged University project which brings individuals who are passionate about their subject into social spaces to share their knowledge and skills. Ragged Arts takes influence from the Salon d'Automne (Autumn Salon) organized by Georges Rouault, André Derain, Henri Matisse, Angele Delasalle and Albert Marquet as a reaction to the conservative policies of the official Paris Salon. When the Salon d'Automne exhibitions first began, they almost immediately became the showpiece of developments and innovations in 20th century including those in painting and sculpture.
This is the space in which to highlight new artists in the face of a risk averse economy and society which craves new talent.
